Character Interview: Alissia
Interviewer: Alissia, thank you for joining us today. You’ve been dreaming of Nate for seven years. What was it like finally meeting him in real life?
Alissia: It was surreal, like stepping into a moment I’d been waiting for my whole life. I’d imagined meeting him so many times, but nothing could prepare me for the reality. At first, I couldn’t believe it was actually him. But once the shock wore off, it felt like everything clicked into place—except for the part where I was told we couldn’t be together. That was... frustrating, to say the least.
Interviewer: Your best friend Charlie has been with you through a lot. How has your relationship with her changed since discovering you’re a witch, and how does she fit into your new life?
Alissia: Charlie has always been my rock, even when she’s dragging me into her wild adventures. When I discovered I was a witch, I was nervous about telling her, but she took it in stride—almost too well! She’s fascinated by the magical world and even more determined to find excitement now that she knows it exists. Our friendship hasn’t changed much, except that now I feel like I’m protecting her in a different way. She’s curious and fearless, which I love about her, but it also means I have to keep an even closer eye on her. But now that she’s with Mike, I know she will be safe. He will protect her with his life, and I’m so happy for them! I’m glad she’s by my side—she reminds me to take a break from all the serious stuff and just live in the moment.
Interviewer: As a scientist, how did you approach the discovery of your magical abilities? Was it difficult to reconcile your analytical nature with the existence of magic?
Alissia: It was definitely a challenge at first. My entire life, I believed in the world of science, where everything has a logical explanation. Discovering that I’m a witch turned everything upside down. But instead of feeling overwhelmed, I saw it as a puzzle to solve. I started applying scientific methods to understand how magic works. It’s fascinating, really—magic has its own rules and patterns, just like any natural phenomenon. I’ve embraced my powers, but I know I have a lot to learn, and that’s something I’m excited about.
Interviewer: The old texts say that you and Nate can’t be together, but you’re determined to prove them wrong. What drives you to challenge these ancient beliefs?
Alissia: The idea that we can’t be together because of some ancient law doesn’t make sense to me, especially when there’s no scientific basis for it. I refuse to accept something just because it’s written in an old book. That’s not how progress happens. So, I’ve been conducting experiments, trying to understand the interactions between magical species on a biological level. If I can prove that there’s no toxicity between us, then we can challenge those outdated laws and build a future together. I’m not one to give up easily—especially not when it comes to something as important as this.
Interviewer: The magical world has a strict hierarchy, but you’ve been questioning it. What’s your view on how the different magical species interact, and what do you hope to change?
Alissia: I think the hierarchy is ridiculous. Why should one group be considered superior to another? It only breeds resentment and conflict. From what I’ve seen, most of the tension in the magical community stems from these arbitrary divisions. Nate and I are working to find a peaceful way for everyone to coexist. I believe that once we show there’s no real reason for these divisions—no biological or magical basis—we can start to break down those barriers. It’s not going to be easy, but I think it’s possible.
Interviewer: You have the ability to dreamwalk, which is quite powerful. How have you used this ability in your journey, and what potential do you see in it?
Alissia: Dreamwalking is a skill I’m still getting the hang of, but it’s incredibly powerful. Being able to enter someone’s dreams gives me insight into their deepest thoughts and fears, and it can be used to influence outcomes in subtle ways. I’ve used it to learn more about our enemies, to see what they’re planning and how we can counteract them. It’s a bit unnerving, knowing how much power this ability holds, but I’m learning to use it responsibly. I think it could be a key tool in the battles to come.
Interviewer: Your biggest fear is losing Nate. How do you cope with that fear, especially with the threat of Victorija and the potential for war looming over you?
Alissia: The fear of losing Nate is something that’s always at the back of my mind, but I try not to let it control me. Instead, I focus on what I can do to protect him and to ensure we have a future together. That’s why forming alliances and understanding the magical world are so important to me. I can’t let fear dictate my actions—I have to stay strong and rational, even when things get tough. Knowing what’s at stake only makes me more determined to succeed.
Interviewer: You’ve recently discovered that your mother is a witch and that she gave you up to protect you. How has this revelation impacted you?
Alissia: Learning that my mother was a witch and that she gave me up for my safety was a shock. I’ve always wanted to find my real parents, and now that I know who she is, it’s like a piece of the puzzle has fallen into place. But it’s also overwhelming to learn that she foresaw my role in the future of the magical community. I’m curious and excited to understand more about my heritage and what’s expected of me. But there’s also a part of me that’s apprehensive—what if I’m not up to the task? Still, I’m determined to find out more and to step into whatever role I’m meant to play.
Interviewer: You’ve always been a rational, analytical person. Has embracing magic and the supernatural world challenged your scientific beliefs or how you view the world?
Alissia: Absolutely, it’s been a real challenge. My entire life, I’ve relied on science and logic to make sense of the world. But magic doesn’t always follow the rules I’m used to—it’s like stepping into a whole new dimension of understanding. At first, it felt like I had to choose between science and magic, but now I see that they can coexist. Magic has its own logic and systems, and I’m determined to understand them just as thoroughly as I do biology. It’s actually made me more curious and open-minded. If anything, embracing magic has expanded my view of what’s possible.
Interviewer: You’ve taken on a lot of responsibility in trying to change the magical community’s status quo. Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the expectations placed on you, especially now that you know your mother foresaw your role in all of this?
Alissia: It’s definitely overwhelming at times. I never expected to be at the center of something this big, and knowing that my mother foresaw it adds a whole new layer of pressure. But I try to focus on what I can control—taking things one step at a time. There’s a part of me that worries about whether I’m making the right decisions or if I’m truly ready for this. But then I remind myself that I’m not doing this alone. I have Nate, Charlie, and others by my side. It’s a lot to carry, but I’m determined to see it through. The future of our world depends on it, and I’m not one to back down from a challenge.

He placed his hands on my arms, leaned down, and brought his face close to mine. Our noses nearly touched, and my heart skipped a beat.
“Not here. Out,” he growled through his teeth.
Nate released me and headed towards the back door. Sighing, I watched him leave, knowing I could either follow him or go home. However, I wanted answers. I wanted to get to know this guy for real after seeing him forever in my dreams. I shrugged and gave the other guys an apologetic smile before leaving through the back door. Outside, the darkness enveloped me, and the distant thumping of bass from inside was only a faint echo. A lantern nearby cast a dim glow, barely illuminating his face. He leaned against the yellow-brown brick wall with the back of his head on the stone and his eyes closed, taking a deep breath. Then, when he sensed me, he opened his eyes, looked at me, and crossed his arms over his chest. Nate radiated strength, reassurance, and imperturbability. I was drawn to this man. He looked so seductive, even more so because he didn’t intend to. Pictures flashed through my mind. Him naked over me, our breaths mingling as he pushed into me. Thinking of my nights with him, I didn’t want to talk. I wanted to taste and feel him at last. I’d waited too long for this to happen. I craved his touch, his lips against mine.
I took a few steps towards him and stopped right before him, only centimetres separating us. On instinct, he touched my arms, slowly stroking my skin. My hands were on his waist, caressing over his stomach up to his chest muscles. It was all too familiar, exactly like in my dreams. Next, his hands would be on my hips, moving to my arse to squeeze my cheeks. I closed my eyes and stood on my tiptoes to reach for his kiss.
“Oh, Nate…” I breathed.
Kiss me, for God’s sake. We’ve done this so often. My breath quickened, and my pulse sped up. Would he kiss me? Did he want me as much as I wanted him? I waited for something to happen, but I felt no more arms around me, no kiss on my lips. Opening my eyes, I saw the battle going on in his mind. What was wrong? Raising my eyebrows, I looked at him. What was his next step? Would he make a move or just stand there for the rest of time? I bit my lower lip, and that triggered him somehow. The next second, I was pressed against the brick wall, his hands on my shoulders, and our bodies separated by his arm’s length.
“What are you doing, witch?” he hissed.
His question pissed me off. Why did he insult me? I wanted a kiss from him, not an organ. For seven agonising years, he had haunted my dreams, a constant reminder of what I could never have. And then, here he was, standing before me in all his glory, finally within my reach. My heart was racing, and my body was on fire with desire. I longed to feel his touch, to have his skin against mine, and to taste his lips on mine. The ache inside me grew stronger with every passing second that we were apart—a longing that consumed me entirely. It was a feeling of desperation, of needing him more than anything else in the world. And now that he was here, I couldn’t bear the thought of letting him go.
“What? Are you kidding me? What does it look like? Playing Scrabble? No, I want your hands on me and your lips on mine. Is that so hard to understand?”
“Are you trying to kill me?” He was peeved at me for some reason. His breathing sped up, and his eyes were fixed on my lips. He swallowed visibly. I could still see the battle going on in his eyes.
“You’re killing me here right now! Are you blind or what? I want you. And don’t give me this rubbish that you aren’t attracted to me!” I practically shouted.
He still had his hands on my shoulders, but I could move my arms and placed them on his chest again. With every other guy, I would have walked away already. I never exposed myself that much and almost begged them to touch me. Nate was different, though. I couldn’t leave that easily. He searched my eyes, and I could no longer conceal my vulnerability behind my aggressive behaviour. Why wouldn’t he kiss me? Did I imagine his attraction, and he had no interest? Would he leave me here for good, and I’d be alone for the rest of my life?
“You really don’t know, do you?” he asked softly as he laid his forehead against mine.
“Know what?”
