A Day in the life of Kit Karlsson

Hi, I’m Kit Karlsson, author of Wanderer of the Wastes, coming out on October 29th. I’m a lawyer and a writer, and I’ll walk you through what it’s like to be me for a day.

1. Wake up. You were probably up late writing or working, and your work also means writing. It’s probably 8:00 or 8:30 a.m.

2. Order coffee via mobile app. This is extremely important, and honestly the only thing that gets you out of bed half the time. You’ll get either the same Starbucks refresher you’ve gotten since you were ten years old or, if you’re feeling adventurous, a Dunkin refresher.

3. Get to work. Water all those plants you have in your office and appreciate the clean air they give you.

4. Work. You’ll probably draft and edit contracts, and if you’re not doing that, you’ll probably be reading contracts. Most days, you’ll write or edit 5,000-10,000 words at work.

5. Get home. It’s probably 8:00 p.m. or so. Cuddle with your cats (very cute), make sure their water is clean and that they have food. Watch TV, or maybe work some more. Eat dinner.

6. Write. If you’re not still working, you’ve got three hours before you need to get to sleep, so make use of it. Write guest blogs, do some marketing, annoy your publisher with texts because she’s almost certainly still awake.

7. Bedtime routine – Shower, then read. You’re currently about halfway through Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell. It’s pretty good.

8. Sleep. To get to sleep, you’ll probably listen to a paranormal or horror podcast. Your favorites are The Exploring Series’ SCP episodes, or you might listen to a paranormal podcast like Two Girls One Ghost.

That’s it. Most days are similar, but I can’t say they’re bad. Now you’re fully prepared to be Kit Karlsson for a day!
